France’s Fête de la Musique festival is coming to Korea, with events set to take place nationwide throughout June.
Fête de la Musique, which started in France in 1982 and is now celebrated in over 100 countries, will also take place across Korea from June 1 to 30. The festival comes as Korea and France mark the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
Performances and programs will take place in around 11 regions, including Seoul, Busan, Cheorwon County and Daegu. More than 25 French artists, including the band Meule, the garage rock band La Flemme and singer-songwriter Lewis OfMan, are set to take part in the festival.

Workshops will also take place throughout the festival. The Voguing Atelier, scheduled for June 2 to 8, will invite dancers to explore ballroom culture, while a songwriting camp from June 15 to 20 will bring together producers, lyricists and music publishers from Korea and France. A DJ Atelier program will take place between June 15 and 20, with French DJ Olympe 4000 leading a music production workshop for women and gender minorities.
The French Embassy in Korea will also host a series of Fête de la Musique+ conferences, where industry professionals and artists from Korea and France will gather to discuss the music industries of both countries. The conferences are scheduled to take place on June 8, 15 and 22 at Thlia Ground in Mapo District, western Seoul.
