프로야구 LG트윈스 주장 오지환이 지난 주말 (11월 26일 일요일) 팬의 결혼식 사회를 보며 수개월 전 약속한 공약을 지켰다.

The fan, Kim Nam-hyun, had asked the infielder during a media day in March ahead of the KBO season to host his wedding if the Twins won the Korean Series and Oh was named MVP.

LG 팬 김남현씨는 KBO 시즌이 시작하기 전인 지난 3월 미디어데이 때 LG가 한국시리즈를 우승하고 오지환이 MVP로 선정되면 자신의 결혼식 사회를 봐달라고 내야수인 오지환에게 부탁한 바 있다.

Capping a historic season, the Twins claimed the Korean Series title for the first time in 29 years after their Game 5 victory on Nov. 13. Oh, who pulled off a three-run home run during the ninth inning of Game 3 to earn the Seoul team a 2-1 lead over the KT Wiz, was named the Series MVP.

LG는 지난 11월 13일 KBO 한국시리즈 5차전에서 승리를 거두고 29년 만에 한국시리즈를 우승하며 역사적인 시즌을 마무리했다. 오지환은 지난 3차전 9회 초 때 3점 홈런을 치며 LG가 KT 위즈에 2-1로 앞서가게끔 했고 이어 한국시리즈 MVP로 선정됐다.

올해 33세 내야수인 오지환은 LG의 한국시리즈 우승으로 인해 또 하나의 오래된 약속을 이행할 예정이었다.

Former LG chairman and baseball fanatic Koo Bonmoo had purchased a Rolex watch for 80 million won ($60,300) in 1998. He told the club to give it to the Twins’ next Series MVP.

전 LG 그룹 회장이자 야구 광팬이었던 구본무는 1998년 롤렉스 시계를 8000만원에 구입하여 한국시리즈에서 MVP를 수상하는 다음 번 LG 선수에게 이를 주라고 한 바 있다.

But the club wouldn’t record another title for another two-and-half-decades, and Koo died in 2018.

그러나 LG는 한국시리즈에서 약 25년 넘게 우승하지 못했고 구본무 전 회장은 2018년 별세했다.

Oh, however, refused to accept the watch, saying he “considers the watch as the former chairman’s keepsake.” He returned it to current LG chairman Koo Kwang-mo, the elder Koo’s son.

그러나 오지환은 시계는 구본무 전 회장의 유품이라며 받지 않았고 이를 현 LG 그룹 회장 구광모 (구본무 회장의 아들)에게 돌려줬다.
