Biathletes finish 7.5-kilometer sprint in middle of the pack

Biathletes Ekaterina Avvakumova and Kim Seon-su finished 49th and 83rd respectively in the women’s 7.5-kilometer sprint on Friday.

Avvakumova crossed the finish line at the Zhangjiakou National Biathlon Centre in Zhangjiakou, China with a time of 23 minutes and 19.4 seconds, putting her 2 minutes and 29.5 seconds behind first place. Kim finished in 25 minutes and 18.2 seconds, 4 minutes and 33.9 seconds behind first place.

As in previous races, Avvakumova proved much faster on the skies but took a number of shooting penalties, while Kim was slower overall, but with fewer penalties.

Marte Olsbu Roeiseland of Norway took first place with a time of 20 minutes and 44.3 seconds. Silver went to Elvira Oeberg of Sweden and Dorothea Wierder of Italy took bronze.
