[LETTERS to the editor]Belated condolences
My name is SGT Joshua C. Ray and I just read your story about the U.S. soldiers who helped in the rice fields in Yangju, South Korea. Thank you for the honest coverage. I wish that I was there to help, but I have been away from South Korea for over three years.
I was the driver of the vehicle immediately in front of the tank that hit [the farmer’s] daughter and it has haunted me for some time that I couldn’t personally convey my condolences to the family and help people to understand the truth of what happened. Until I can do that, I must keep reading and trying to understand the Korean language and Korea’s daily life.
