A celebration of culture

Residents, tourists and members of boy band NewBeat join a K-pop dance flash mob at Gwanghwamun Square in central Seoul on Aug. 29. The flash mob was part of a “Culture Week” celebrating the 150th anniversary of the independence activist Kim Koo’s (1876-1949) birth, designated as a Unesco commemorative year.

The late activist famously stated, “The only thing that I desire in infinite quantity is the power of a highly developed culture.”
