Influential film director Yu Hyun-mok, 84, will be spotlighted at the 33rd Hong Kong International Film Festival, which kicks off on March 22.
The festival is holding a retrospective on the director and his works, titled “The Realist Dao of Yu Hyun-mok.”
Four of Yu’s early films will be shown: “The Aimless Bullet” (1961) (pictured above), “Kim’s Daughters” (1963), “The Guests of the Last Train” (1967) and “Rainy Days” (1979).
Yu debuted in the local movie scene in 1956 with the film “Crossroads.”
The festival also features Noh Young-seok’s debut feature “Daytime Drinking” (2008) in the Asia Digital Competitive section.
The film will compete against Japanese director Ichii Masahide’s “Naked of Defenses” and Chinese director Yang Jin’s “Er Dong.”
