The Gwacheon branch of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA) is collaborating with Teletubbies to celebrate its 40th year of opening, the museum announced Monday.
Free Teletubby keyrings will be distributed daily to the first 200 museumgoers in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi, from Friday to Aug. 29. Specially designed for the collaboration, the keyrings come in four types featuring different Teletubbies — Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po — each holding a sketchbook or paintbrush. They will be handed out randomly; visitors cannot choose.
Visitors must also be ages three or older and hold a ticket to the Gwacheon MMCA. Waiting outside the museum before it opens is banned due to potential dangers from the country's ongoing heatwave.
Those who manage to receive a keyring can also win gifts, including a polaroid camera, after posting their keyrings on Instagram with the hashtag "MMCAGwacheon40xTeletubby," or MMCA과천40x텔레토비, in Korean. Ten posts will be randomly selected through Sept. 2.
Life-sized Teletubbies will also be greeting museumgoers from Aug. 25 to 27. Visitors can take pictures with the technological babies four times each day — at 10:10 a.m., 11:10 a.m., 2:10 p.m. and 3:10 p.m. — for 20 minutes.
"To mark the 40th anniversary of MMCA's Gwacheon branch, we will collaborate with a globally popular character to create a new museum-going experience," said MMCA director Kim Sung-hee. "I hope visitors of all generations, connecting the past, present and future of the Gwacheon branch, will create special memories at the museum."
More details about the MMCA Gwacheon x Teletubby are available at MMCA's official website and social media pages.
