“Academy of Critical Thinking” by Kim Young-bae offers analysis of the critical political and social stories of today. Kim, who received a master’s degree in philosophy and worked as a journalist for 15 years, explains the terms and contexts of the articles, which are meant to encourage critical thinking about social issues. In one chapter, the author presents Jeon Bong-gwan’s essay concerning the Shin Jeong-ah scandal, and then elucidates Jeon’s essay using easier language. Kim asserts that the crux of the Shin matter were the lies spread by government leaders rather than the actions of the academics.
The book is published by Woongjin Jisik House and costs 12,000 won ($13).
