Tour bus in Australia carrying Korean tourists veers off cliff

One woman died and six were injured when a tourist bus running in Australia plunged into a ravine, carrying mostly Korean passengers, the country’s state-run ABC News reported yesterday.

The minibus was carrying tourists down the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, a scenic tourist drive in southern Australia, when it veered 20 meters (65 feet) down a ravine at around 2 p.m., local time, ABC News and other media reported. “We believe that most of the patients are Korean nationals,” Ambulance Victoria spokesman Paul Holman told Fairfax Radio. “They were on a sightseeing tour on the Great Ocean Road.”

Holman told ABC News that the passengers were believed to range in age from 18 to their mid-twenties. Local authorities are still investigating the exact cause of the accident, he added.

“We received a call for a mini bus over an embankment and it’s hit a tree, subsequently there’s seven patients involved,” he told ABC News.

One of the four injured passengers was reportedly in critical condition.
