George Mason University Korea will open registration on Monday for its annual global competition encouraging students to create computer games and digital art that address contemporary social issues.
Registration for the sixth Progress@Play Digital Art Competition will run from Monday through Oct. 11, the university said. The competition was established to give young people opportunities to explore social issues creatively and produce digital works that combine artistic expression with social value.

It is open to middle and high school students as well as university students worldwide. Entries can be submitted in five categories: animation, film, webtoon, illustration and computer games.
Submitted works will be evaluated based on social value, completeness, artistic quality and originality.
The competition has a total prize pool of 8.6 million won ($6,200). Awards include the Grand Prize, category awards for games, animation and film, webtoon and illustration, as well as a Popularity Award. Middle and high school winners will also receive awards from the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education.
Works selected in the first round of judging will be exhibited at Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo from Nov. 6 to 15. Visitors will be able to view the selected works during the exhibition, when the final round of judging will also take place. The awards ceremony is scheduled for Nov. 28.
This year's competition is sponsored by NC, Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo, the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education and the Game Culture Foundation.
Since its launch in 2021, the competition has grown into an international digital art contest, attracting more than 1,000 participants from up to nine countries, including the United States, China, Japan, Canada and Vietnam.
George Mason University Korea is the Korea campus of Virginia-based George Mason University, located in Songdo, Incheon. It offers the same curricula and degree programs as its Fairfax campus, with all courses taught in English.
