Seventeen’s ‘Always Yours’ tops 1 million copies in Japan

Boy band Seventeen sold more than a million copies of its compilation album “Always Yours” (2023) in Japan, according to its agency Pledis Entertainment on Monday.

Released on Aug. 23, 2023, it has crossed the million-threshold as of July.

“Always Yours” has become the group’s fourth million-sale milestone in Japan, following its first Japanese EP “Dream” (2022), 10th EP “FML” (2023) and 11th EP “Seventeenth Heaven” (2023).

Seventeen also leads in the number of million-selling albums as K-pop artists in Japan.

“We are pleased and honored to receive another million-seller certification after last month’s 'Seventeenth Heaven,’” the boy band said in a press release. 

The Recording Industry Association of Japan counts cumulative shipments of musical records each month and certifies works according to the number of units sold.

A gold certification is given to works that sell 100,000 units, platinum for 250,000 sales, double platinum for 500,000 sales, triple platinum for 750,000 and a million-seller certification for works that sell a million units or more.

Seventeen debuted as a 13-member act in 2015. The bandmates renewed their contracts with Pledis Entertainment for the first time in 2021 and for the second time last month.
