IU checks in with fans in post featuring ex-boyfriend's song

Singer-actor IU drew attention for using a song by her former boyfriend as the background music of her social media post on Thursday.

She shared a series of photos of her recent daily life and work on social media.

“Hi, it’s been a while,” she wrote as one of the captions.

The post features “Living the Carefree Life” (2009) by Kiha & The Faces. Her ex-boyfriend, Chang Ki-ha, fronted the band until its disbandment in 2018.

IU and Chang met through his radio program in 2013 and publicly confirmed their relationship in 2015. They went their separate ways in 2017.

Chang is currently dating actor Yoon Ga-i, as confirmed by their agencies in June. They grew close after appearing together on the local streaming platform Coupang Play’s reboot of “Saturday Night Live Korea” (2021–) in 2023, according to their agencies.

IU, meanwhile, ended her four-year relationship with actor Lee Jong-suk in July. 

She has also scaled back her music activities due to health concerns. She canceled a concert scheduled to take place in Goyang in September after her chronic Patulous Eustachian tube dysfunction symptoms worsened and postponed the release of her sixth full-length album.
