KB Financial Group said Monday that it joined global initiatives targeting the zero-carbon economy.
It joined the Science Based Targets initiative as well as the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials.
The Science Based Targets show how much and how quickly companies need to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions to prevent the worst effects of climate change. The Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials helps financial institutions assess and disclose greenhouse gas emissions of their loans and investments.
The Korean financial group plans to set and disclose its targets for emissions reduction within the next two years.
