KAL obtains new in-flight credit card system to prevent fraud

Korean Air Lines, the nation’s largest flag carrier, said yesterday it has adopted a new credit card payment system for in-cabin purchases to prevent incidents of credit card fraud.

According to the air carrier, when buying duty-free items inside an airborne plane, it was difficult to quickly check whether the credit card was authentic or duplicated.

However, KAL said its new card reader will identify false credit cards immediately by storing information on the false credit cards and through increased ground contact.

KAL said last month it had caught two Taiwanese passengers using false credit cards.
