Kakao apps hit with service outage due to fire at data center

Major Kakao services, including Kakao Talk, Kakao T and Kakao Bank, were down on Saturday due to a fire at a data center, the company said.

In a post on Twitter Saturday, Kakao said that repair work may continue well past midnight. 

Kakao services continued to generate errors early Sunday morning.   

The blaze broke out at around 3:33 p.m. at the SK C&C building in Pangyo, Gyeonggi, they said. The building houses data centers for Naver and Kakao.

Service failures were also reported at Kakao Pay and Kakao Games.

Naver said partial disruptions were reported at its shopping services, including Shopping Live.
