Huons BioPharma broke ground for a 70-billion-won ($54.8 million) biomanufacturing plant in Jecheon, North Chungcheong, Tuesday.
The five-story production plant, measuring 10,000 square meters (2.4 acres), is scheduled to be completed in 2024 and will produce up to 7.2 million vials of Huons’ Hutox botulinum toxin a year.
Huons BioPharma currently operates two manufacturing plants for the Hutox product in Jecheon. With the addition of the third plant, the company will have a total production capacity of 13.68 million vials per year.
Huons BioPharma’s second Hutox production plant was recently granted a quality certification for the European Good Manufacturing Practice standard from German authorities.
