HD Construction Equipment to double renewable energy use at Incheon plant by 2027

HD Construction Equipment has signed power purchase agreements totaling 12.4 megawatts peak with multiple renewable energy generators for its Incheon plant, as part of its push to hit its 2040 RE100 target. 

The agreements will raise the renewable energy share of the Incheon plant's electricity use from 19 percent to 43.9 percent by January 2027, the company said on Thursday. Renewable energy use will also rise at its Ulsan and Gunsan plants, to 42 percent and 53.1 percent, respectively, over the same period. Company-wide, the renewable energy share across domestic sites is projected to climb from 22 percent to 40.3 percent, cutting annual greenhouse gas emissions by 22,155 tons.

HD Construction Equipment became the first Korean construction equipment maker to join the RE100 initiative, a global corporate initiative to reach 100 percent renewable electricity, in 2023. According to a 2025 Korea Energy Economics Institute report, Korean firms disclosing under RE100 standards averaged a 12 percent renewable energy usage rate.

The company is also installing solar facilities and purchasing renewable energy certificates as part of its broader carbon reduction efforts.
